What's a good Android app for, you know, meeting people nearby without having to go to a noisy bar or something? I'm looking for something a bit more… direct, I suppose.

So, my students, bless their hearts, actually showed me this app, "Local Dating Fun Chat - Hickey". They said it's good for meeting people in the area. Now, I'm not usually one for these things, but I figured, why not? It's surprisingly intuitive, once you get the hang of it. Why do they hide the settings button there? Anyway, it lets you chat with people nearby, which is nice if you're not keen on the whole bar scene. It's like having a teaching assistant in your pocket, but instead of grading papers, it's… well, you get the idea. I'm still figuring it all out, but it seems like a decent way to connect with people without all the fuss. I'm not promising anything, but it's worth a shot, right? Just be careful, alright? There are some strange folks out there.
