This app transforms outdoor cooking with precise temperature monitoring and remote access. Designed to help grill masters and smoking enthusiasts achieve consistent results, the application pairs with ThermoMaven's four-probe system to provide real-time temperature tracking. Users can monitor cooking progress from anywhere while following guided recipes with video instructions.

Detailed Review

ThermoMaven positions itself as a comprehensive cooking companion for serious outdoor chefs. The iOS application works exclusively with Auros Innovation's wireless temperature probes, creating an integrated system that monitors both internal meat temperatures and ambient cooking environment. This approach addresses the common challenge of maintaining consistent temperatures during long smoking sessions or precision grilling. The application's core functionality revolves around real-time temperature monitoring across four simultaneous probes. Each probe transmits data to a base unit that connects to home WiFi networks, enabling remote monitoring through the app. Key features include target temperature alerts, estimated completion time calculations, and ambient temperature tracking. The recipe library stands out with step-by-step video instructions that automatically configure probe settings for different dishes, from brisket to bratwurst. In practical use, the app demonstrates thoughtful design choices. Temperature readings appear persistently in the phone's status bar during cooking sessions, allowing users to check progress without switching applications. Initial setup proves straightforward for most users, with automatic probe detection when devices are removed from their charging base. However, some configuration aspects require attention - WiFi setup initially confused several users who skipped the step, though subsequent updates have made this process more accessible. User feedback consistently highlights several strengths. Reviews praise the system's accuracy and reliability across various cooking scenarios, from weeknight grilling to competition-style smoking. The remote monitoring capability receives particular appreciation, with users noting they can check temperatures while running errands or completing household tasks. Some early adopters reported connectivity issues with dual-band routers, though these appear resolved by connecting to 2.4GHz networks. The estimated completion times occasionally show discrepancies during initial heating phases but become more accurate as cooking progresses. Overall assessment finds ThermoMaven delivers on its core promise of precise, remote temperature monitoring. The hardware and software integration creates a seamless experience that benefits both casual grillers and serious smoking enthusiasts. While the system requires investment in proprietary probes, the four-probe configuration and robust app features justify the cost for regular outdoor cooks. Minor interface quirks exist but don't significantly impact the generally positive user experience.

I recently bought the thermomaven probe and aside from the sleek easy to use features of the device itself, the app complements the product nicely. Pairing the probe was super simple as well as getting it connected to wifi. My favorite feature is the recipes section where they have detailed instructions and videos to complement every step of the prep and paired nicely with the parameters to set the grill probe to. rock on thermomaven, you guys did a great job on this! This temp probe is incredibly accurate and easy to use. Love the ambient feature! It’s allowed me to fine tune my cooking temperature to perfection! Much improved cook results. That’s what it’s all about! Outstanding This temp probe is incredibly accurate and easy to use. Love the ambient feature! It’s allowed me to fine tune my cooking temperature to perfection! I wanted to test these out, so I used it on a beat of all things! Didn’t need to, but did. Set a temp for 160 and was able to watch the internal temp climb, see the ambient temp and was notified on estimated time of cook for the brat to reach that temp. Everything worked well and was accurate. I was alerted on both my phone and the modular that came with the probes! Smooth, smooth, smooth! Update: I found the location to set the WiFi if you skip it, and was able to select a slow speed connection (2.4Ghz), which really was faster than it needed… several positive things noticed after that: 1. If you simply turn it on and pull out a probe, it shows up on your phone without doing anything… that is quite nice. (Have to give it permission to respond to events to do that) 2. It works really well, although saying that it will be done in 14 minutes if the ambient temp is 150 and the target is 135, and it is currently at 85, seems off (took the expected 1 hour, and the ambient temp went up to 225 eventually). Those times seem off, but no biggie more concerned with the last 10 minutes when it has a real estimate and it is closer there 3. Love how the temps show up in the top center of the phone on most apps.. VERY well done! Overall, I LOVE this thing! Outstanding hardware and great software (except issues noted below) Original impression: (rated 1 star, they responded to it quickly and I got an answer to my problems.. or some..) ——- Won’t connect to WiFi just stupidly says error… nothing helpful, my guess is it doesn’t like modern dual band routers… pull out the 2010 router and you are good!! Worse, you HAVE to have an account to use it (only useful if it works with the WiFi), and if you skip the setup of the WiFi you can’t get back to set it up!! So, you can re-pair or un-pair the device… solution?? Sledgehammer and buy a new one!?? Sending feedback and it doesn’t populate the email address in spite of having it… and if you don’t click the send photo button you can’t send the feedback at all as you can’t get to the send button.. So, this won’t monitor from inside my house, and I expect I’m sending it back to Amazon to get a refund… Due to bad software.. Hardware seems great! Well, except why do I need to stick it 4” into my hamburger I’m monitoring?? Better be a big burger! Or I could damage the probe… um, what about a chicken breast? Might be hard to jam this thing 4-5” deep in a chicken breast! Fish? Same problem.. Filet minion? Yeah, better be a dang big one!! I expect will end up damaging this device if I use it for anything other than big steaks! I mean, no way I SHOULD damage the device, it HAS to be designed to be high temp or it is useless right? Anyway.. sadly seems like it is a great thought, cool design, and won’t allow me to use it on my wifi.. and I even have a 2nd wifi that is 2.4ghz only but can’t switch it now! Will have to call support and ask them about the hidden reset button.. Wifi doesn’t work if 5Ghz supported by your unit (90% of routers) Update: I found the location to set the WiFi if you skip it, and was able to select a slow speed connection (2.4Ghz), which really was faster than it needed… several positive things noticed after that:1.
