I’ve been a huge Sonos fan for years, but like a lot of people, I hit a wall this past year. The new app updates made everything feel slower, glitchier, and borderline unusable. My system used to be rock-solid. Suddenly, the Arc would cut out during TV playback, grouping rooms was a mess, and I couldn’t rely on it for the seamless experience I’d always loved. I was one of the many who left a frustrated 1-star review. But after a lot of trial and error—and almost giving up—I finally found the fix that brought everything back to life: 👉 Pick ONE main Sonos speaker (ideally your Arc or the one connected to your TV) and hardwire it directly to your router or mesh system using an Ethernet cable. Then unplug Ethernet from any other Sonos speakers. That’s it. I didn’t need to factory reset anything. As soon as I plugged the Arc into Ethernet and disabled Wi-Fi on that one speaker in the app, everything snapped back into place. No more dropouts. Grouping works. The app responds instantly. It feels like classic Sonos again. I genuinely think a lot of people don’t realize that SonosNet (the hidden mesh Sonos used to rely on) doesn’t always play nice with modern Wi-Fi mesh systems like Deco, Eero, etc. But this one change—hardwiring just one key speaker and letting the others stay wireless—restored my whole system. I still think Sonos has work to do with the app UI, but the performance is now excellent. If your system has been frustrating lately, try this before you give up. It made a huge difference for me—and I’m back to loving my Sonos setup. It works again!!!! — here’s what finally fixed it. I love SONOS and keep building my system. Sound is amazing, my Moves and Roam have great sound, battery life and WiFi connectivity. The app is getting better. It still has a little ways to go but fine for the most part it’s fine. The surround sound is immersive and talking is very clear. Very happy and I’d be thinking about my next one but I’m out of rooms. Maybe outdoor speakers next. I’ll have this system forever I love SONOS and keep building my system. I’ve been bashing this app for few years since they destroyed it. Recently it has been loading very fast and responsive. Love these speakers … hopeful that they have fixed the issues that almost sunk them Update July 2024 I’ve been bashing this app for few years since they destroyed it. I’ve always felt that Sonos hardware is 9/10 but the software is 7/10. It’s slightly slow and unfamiliar to use, but at least it’s quite aesthetic. As an app designer imo, Sonos should use more familiar app layouts and user flows. Their modern aesthetics works for speakers which are intuitive to use, but not for the software. I had given the app one star ratings in 2022 and 2024. It was terrible, but honestly, I think that my basic standard Wi-Fi service was one of the culprits. I upgraded the MBPS package and installed POE ports in my house, particularly on the floor, where all of my Sonos is. There are still some delays, but the music is in sync and the grouping of speakers is great. Keep it coming Sonos. By the way, I will never buy your headphones.
