Designed to help skiers and snowboarders make informed decisions, the Snow-Forecast.com app delivers hyper-local mountain weather predictions. This powerful tool stands out by providing detailed forecasts for three distinct elevations at each resort. For anyone who plans trips around snow conditions, it offers a level of granularity that general weather services lack.

Detailed Review

In the crowded field of weather applications, Snow-Forecast.com carves out a specific niche, catering directly to winter sports enthusiasts who require more detail than a simple temperature and precipitation readout. The app, developed by Meteo365 Ltd., focuses exclusively on mountain regions worldwide, aggregating data to serve a community for whom accurate forecasts are not just about convenience, but safety and maximizing enjoyment. Its position in the market is solidified by a dedicated user base that consistently rates it above broader competitors and even specialized premium services like Open Snow. The app's core functionality revolves around its multi-elevation forecasting. For any given ski resort, it displays conditions for the base, mid-mountain, and summit separately. This is crucial for planning attire and understanding variable conditions across a ski area. The interface presents this data in a swipeable grid, allowing users to scroll through hourly and daily forecasts for factors like temperature, wind speed and direction, freezing level, and estimated snowfall in both centimeters and inches. A premium subscription unlocks further detail, including cloud cover, humidity, and data from specific weather models. Real-world usage scenarios highlight its utility. A user driving over an hour to a resort can check the morning report to decide which jacket and base layers to pack. A powder chaser comparing forecasts for several resorts in a region can use the app's detailed snowfall timelines to identify the best destination for the coming days. The alert system for snowfall or weather changes provides timely notifications, reducing the need for constant manual checking. While the density of information can present a slight learning curve for new users, the layout is generally considered logical and comprehensive. User feedback trends overwhelmingly praise the app's reliability and update frequency. Reviews indicate that forecasts are often perceived as more accurate and timely than those from national services or direct competitors, with updates occurring multiple times daily. A common thread in testimonials is the direct comparison to other paid services, with many users stating the free tier of Snow-Forecast.com surpasses them. Specific praise is lavished on the three-point temperature feature, which, as one reviewer noted, 'takes the guessing game out of figuring out what to wear.' Long-term users appreciate the consistent development and rich feature set, though some note that very long-range forecasts—a challenge for any service—should be viewed with appropriate skepticism. As a balanced assessment, Snow-Forecast.com excels within its specialized domain. Its primary strength is delivering targeted, elevation-specific data that is genuinely useful for mountain activities. The frequency of updates and the depth of information, even in the free version, represent significant value. The main limitation is the narrow scope; it is not designed as a general-purpose weather app for daily urban life. Its complexity, while a boon to enthusiasts, might be excessive for a casual once-a-year skier. Ultimately, for its intended audience—dedicated skiers, snowboarders, and mountain professionals—it is an exceptionally effective tool that addresses specific pain points other apps gloss over.

I love that this app gives temp at three locations: base, mid-mountain, and top of mountain. Takes guessing game out of figuring out what to wear. I have spent the last 75+ days in the mountains from Colorado, Utah, And the Tahoe area. I actively use 4 apps to chase powder and determine ski conditions each day. This is my number 1 app for 2021. It is by far the most reliable, and they have updated conditions more often than their competitors this season. I believe On the Snow and Open Snow have taken a financial hit due to COVID causing a lack of us skiers/snowboarders paying for their premium services. From my perspective this may be the reason why they are only updating weather once a day and do not have as many weather forecasters. This is my go to app this year and has been great. The services they offer that show the weather at different elevations is brilliant. I have found it to be the most accurate and update multiple times daily. Determining weather in the mountains must be extremely difficult, and the national weather companies towers tend to be below the base of the mountain, therefore they are not accurate for mountain sports. So we need apps such as this to determine conditions when figuring out what base layers to wear each morning and what mountain to head to the following week.
