Sling TV delivers customizable live television streaming with sports, news, and entertainment content. The service targets cord-cutters seeking flexible subscription options without long-term contracts or hidden fees across iOS devices.

Detailed Review

Sling TV positions itself as a comprehensive cable alternative, offering live television streaming with customizable channel packages. The iOS application enables users to access sports, news, and entertainment content through tiered subscription models while maintaining flexibility to pause or modify services without contractual obligations. A freemium tier provides limited access without payment requirements. The application's core functionality revolves around customizable channel lineups, cloud DVR capabilities, and on-demand content libraries. Subscribers can select base packages (Orange or Blue) starting at $40 monthly, with premium add-ons available for specialized content. The DVR feature allows recording of live programming, though organization tools remain limited. Sports coverage stands out as particularly comprehensive, including cricket and other international sports through specialized packages. User experience varies by device capability and internet connection stability. The interface employs a grid-style channel guide familiar to traditional TV viewers, with content discovery facilitated through categorized browsing. Performance analysis indicates streaming quality adapts to bandwidth availability, though some users report intermittent buffering during peak viewing hours. The mobile experience prioritizes live content access over deep library exploration due to screen size constraints. User feedback trends highlight satisfaction with sports accessibility and pricing flexibility, though feature requests indicate areas for improvement. Watan Roshan (August 29, 2025) praised cricket coverage as unparalleled in the US market, while Calculating Excellence (June 20, 2025) repeatedly requested DVR search functionality to navigate recorded content more efficiently. Several reviews mentioned confusion regarding pricing tiers despite advertised transparency. The service excels in sports programming and contract flexibility but faces challenges in interface intuitiveness and feature completeness. Ideal for viewers prioritizing live sports and news over extensive on-demand libraries, Sling TV represents a mid-tier streaming option balancing cost against content depth. The absence of search functionality in DVR sections and occasional pricing confusion remain notable limitations against competitors.

To watch cricket in USA there is nothing better than Sling TV. I have been through all the apps! Free and non free apps but Sling is awesome. I recommended to all my friends and now they all did subscription. Even though we not regularly use this app I opened it now after six months but I still have active subscription and all my friends do the same thing. However we just use it when we have our own cricket match. I wish they never miss any live matches of Afghanistan cricket team. Do You wanna watch Cricket??? Please add search function to your DVR recordings to make it easier to search through your DVR recordings to find what you're wanting instead of having to scroll the long list you have of things to watch to find that one in particular Please add search Please add search function to your DVR recordings to make it easier to search through your DVR recordings to find what you're wanting instead of having to scroll the long list you have of things to watch to find that one in particular

I have had cable and satellite. Neither of which were reliable.. But I find a Sling is the best for what I need to Stream because it pretty much covers everything for a good price and options for no commercials. Sling is as reliable as my Internet. I can watch everything that I’ve subscribed to, anywhere. Just as long as there is Internet. Sling is also a good place to start if somebody does have satellite or cable. A person can start with just the basics (which I did), and add channels. After I had pretty much subscribed to my most important channels, I was so used to streaming that I canceled my satellite and went completely streaming with Sling. I have been happy ever since. Just a quick note, this was really frustrating. I wrote almost all of this review, and as I was proofreading it I accidentally tapped outside the “write a review“ window and it all disappeared. This happened twice. (Grumble, grumble.) But now to business. I wanted to send y’all some positive feedback on what appears to be an update to the tvOS Sling app (I know it’s so much easier for somebody to make a comment when they’re dissatisfied, I wanted to give you all a hearty handshake and a pat on the back), but there is apparently no way of doing that, either through the Sling app or the website. There is also no email address I could find. I chatted with somebody for a little while, but they were unable to be helpful (they weren’t even sure about the current version number). Also, there was no way to leave a review in the tvOS App Store, which is why I’m leaving this review here. I am assuming that this is a recent update because I started seeing these things just a few days ago. But the tvOS App Store entry doesn’t cite the full version number, nor the date of release. so it’s difficult to be sure. The things I noticed that I like include the “watch from beginning/continue watching” option when one starts a DVR recording. I also like the “press and hold to go back to the previous channel” feature. Both of those I will likely find useful. I am also almost thrilled to see that the app now responds to Siri commands such as “forward one minute” “back one minute”. I am a little less impressed, however, with the “Browse and watch” screen that comes up when I swipe up on my Siri remote. This seems suboptimal. Perhaps another couple of buttons, e.g. “DVR“, would be useful. I have seen an option for “channel surfing“ which I also find less than useful. Some options to enable or disable some of these features, like with the “always ask/never ask“ option for logging in, would be nice. There are also a couple of features that I had requested sometime ago that have yet to appear, at least that I’ve noticed. In particular, I’d like to have easier navigation through the guide, perhaps a “scroll up/down” feature and a “ahead/back four hours” feature. Is there someplace I can find online that has a somewhat more comprehensive list of the feature changes in the new app version? Thank you, keep up the good work.
