My Earthquake Alerts provides real-time global earthquake monitoring with customizable push notifications. The app serves both safety-conscious users and geology enthusiasts through detailed historical data and intuitive mapping interfaces.

Detailed Review

My Earthquake Alerts & Feed positions itself as a comprehensive seismic monitoring solution for iOS users, offering real-time global earthquake tracking alongside historical data analysis. Developed by JRustonApps B.V., the application distinguishes itself through its entirely free notification system and extensive database coverage dating back to 1970, providing both immediate alerts and long-term seismic pattern analysis. The application's core functionality revolves around three primary components: a live global earthquake map displaying real-time seismic activity, customizable push notifications based on magnitude thresholds and geographical relevance, and an advanced search system enabling users to examine historical earthquakes across five decades. The mapping interface incorporates color-coded magnitude indicators and fault line visualizations, while the alert system allows users to set specific parameters for notifications based on their location and sensitivity requirements. User experience demonstrates thoughtful optimization for iOS devices, featuring a clean, minimalist interface that prioritizes seismic data visualization over unnecessary UI elements. The design employs intuitive gesture controls for map navigation and incorporates haptic feedback for alert notifications. Real-world usage patterns indicate two primary user behaviors: emergency preparedness monitoring with immediate alert responses, and educational/research-oriented usage involving historical data analysis and pattern recognition across global seismic zones. User feedback reveals generally positive reception with specific praise for accuracy and lifesaving potential. Reviewer CHILLY JOHN (2025-07-17) notes the app 'will save a lot of lives,' while Lady So Cal (2025-06-10) appreciates its utility for California earthquake preparedness. However, some users report geographical relevance issues, with Bob Peterson BPS (2025-08-21) experiencing mismatched location data showing 'Japan or something' instead of their local state. The 4.7-star rating reflects overall satisfaction despite occasional technical inconsistencies. The application demonstrates significant strengths in comprehensiveness and cost-free accessibility, though limitations appear in geographical accuracy and occasional notification reliability. Ideal use cases include earthquake-prone region residents seeking early warning systems, geology students researching historical seismic patterns, and travelers monitoring potential seismic risks in destination areas. The app serves as both a practical safety tool and an educational resource, though users in critical situations should maintain supplementary alert systems.

I like having this app on my phone so I can keep tabs on my friends and family when big earthquakes happen, I can see if it was close to my loved ones and check in on them to see if they ok or if they need help. I got this app because I live in California where we have a few “shakers” a year that test our homes and make us immediately guarded to see how strong it will be. We’ve also had some quakes that make a major mess in highly populated areas, like the ones in Sylmar, or Northridge years ago. This app also alerts us to some quakes around the world. Some places are obscure where the geography in those locations are fascinating to navigate! On Guard!
