I have used Lyft for financial support together with my full time job for 1 year and 2 months now and have made about little over 30k driving in the DMV area. The app is not as bad as people say it is, Especially if you leave near a popular city it is great money to get you through tough times. My best advice to have the best experience as someone with over a year under their belt is to greet and thank everyone by name, even if you can’t pronounce the name just ask them, and then shut up unless they start conversation, Next is to cherry pick rides that favor you, Lyfts acceptance rate means nothing unless you actually want the perks which are minimal and lastly pay attention to customer ratings, never ever pick up someone with less than 4.8 stars or you will find out why they were rated low. I have been a Lyft driver for 9.2 years starting in Baltimore and now in Philadelphia. Lyft brings out the best in me and I love it! Lyft has been a lifesaver ❤️ I have been a Lyft driver for 9.2 years starting in Baltimore and now in Philadelphia. Lyft brings out the best in me and I love it!
Lyft, overall, provides a fantastic app with effective filters. Unfortunately, I don’t trust your “identity verification” process whatsoever. Your own Support/Help documentation states conflicting information. I should never be asked to submit my drivers license beyond the initial provision of said document. The biometric verification photo is understandable, but to continue to ask me to pull over and photograph/scan my drivers license is an overreach and I do not trust any aspect of the process (due to the sheer number of third parties which are involved, ultimately able to retain sensitive information related directly to my identity— there will be breaches, as there already have been). I suggest following the lead of your primary competitor relative to account verification— Uber excels in this process, both for drivers and riders. As such, the platform is safer. Aside from that— Lyft’s app is, overall, superior to its primary competitor’s app. The ability to control one’s area is not been remotely addressed via Uber, as that platform regularly just outright “disregards” any and all settings and preferences as it sees fit. Lyft, on the other hand, will simply “go quiet” under some circumstances (e.g., yielding earnings which vastly exceed the overall median earnings for that particular timeframe in the same overall market, etc.). The Uber algorithm is unparalleled, however (which is both an amazing circumstance as well as one which can be crippling— make no mistake: We are never in “control” despite being given a very strong illusion of control at times). Support on both platforms for issues related to compensation or anything not safety-related is abysmal. Lyft, however, truly provided support beyond what I expected in a moment when I needed it the most (safety-related). I will forever be grateful for the many years I’ve driven these platforms to varying degrees. Simply experiencing the progression as technology advances has been nothing short of amazing. Still, the number one most rewarding aspect is relative to the never-ending variety of humans with whom I come in contact daily. I was part of the whole “gig revolution” when Lyft went nationwide in 2016, and still happily drive ten years later, having safely transported some-odd 40,000 unique individuals over time. 💬 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lyft, overall, provides a fantastic app with effective filters.
