Detailed Review

HeritCoin represents a significant advancement in numismatic technology, offering collectors and enthusiasts an AI-powered solution for coin and banknote identification. Developed by Open Sky New Media Limited, this iOS application combines computer vision with professional appraisal services to deliver comprehensive valuation data and historical context for various currencies. The app positions itself as a premium tool in the growing market of digital numismatic assistants, distinguishing itself through its specialized focus on both coins and paper currency. The core functionality centers around its AI identification system, which processes images of coins and banknotes to provide instant recognition. Users simply photograph their items using their device's camera, and the application cross-references the visual data against an extensive database of global currency. The system delivers detailed information including origin, mint year, historical context, and current market valuation ranges. Additional features include collection management tools that allow users to catalog their items and track value fluctuations over time. User experience demonstrates thoughtful design with an intuitive interface optimized for both novice collectors and experienced numismatists. The scanning process requires minimal technical knowledge—users position their device above the coin, capture an image, and receive results typically within seconds. Real-world usage patterns show collectors frequently employing the app during flea market visits, estate sales, and collection audits. The interface includes organizational features for categorizing finds by country, era, or material, creating a digital inventory that grows with each identification. User feedback trends consistently highlight the application's accuracy and speed, with numerous reviews praising its performance across diverse coin types. R. Chola (November 24, 2024) noted the app's scanning capabilities and detailed value ranges, while Isabella Moore (October 12, 2024) emphasized its effectiveness with both modern and vintage coins. Some users, including jenkoj (January 17, 2025), have expressed minor concerns about appraisal accuracy for certain rare items, though still acknowledge the application's superiority over competitors. The application demonstrates particular strength in its comprehensive database and rapid identification capabilities, though limitations exist in handling extremely rare or damaged specimens. Ideal use cases include casual collectors verifying recent acquisitions, estate evaluators assessing currency collections, and educational applications for historical research. While the AI generally provides reliable identifications, extremely valuable or unique items may still require professional physical appraisal for complete authentication and precise valuation.

The app offers an estimated value of your coins. It also saves the coin info in folders you can create and label. Also, it appears you can have your coin appraised. I don’t know how this portion is done, but , what I do know is getting an appraisal should mean sending your coin to the appraiser. This will have a fee of course. The appraisal will come with a certificate and grade. They should package it as well. I have not done this feature since I don’t believe every single coin I have was coming up at a value worth more than the coins face value. Can this be true? Some by a small margin and some by a lot compared to the coins face value (.01 cent = $10. Or $20.). I am skeptical and I do not want to pay upwards of $35 for an appraisal plus shipping for something that is appraised at a lesser value than its certification fees. The app is nice, yet difficult to navigate. I did a lot of saving just to find out my collection wasn’t saved it was just cataloged temporarily. There’s no extra cost to create a folder and save them but it made a complicated mess before I actually started getting comfortable with the process. Then all my coins I threw back into the pile so I’d have to start over again anyway. I’d like to get pages of coin holders so I can keep them in order and note each one. The app offers to put up your coins for sale if you want to Ming other users and not sure who else would be browsing the library but it seems a lot of coins sell for very low amounts. And What About Every coin being identified at a higher value than its face value. It doesn’t seem right. AND I HAVE A LOT OF COINS! One thing I think is true but not sure because I really don’t know enough to catch is it doesn’t identify error coins. I’m not saying I have error coins but what if I do and it never told me? Also there’s no mention of such in the app for these type coins. I’d like to know without a doubt where to go to sell if a high dollar coin is in my piles. Better than online, I’m thinking. Good luck! Fun but not sure how accurate The app offers an estimated value of your coins. It also saves the coin info in folders you can create and label.
