Gratitude Plus Review: Scientific Journaling Meets Social Connection

by Redwheel Apps

Gratitude Plus combines evidence-based journaling with social features, enabling users to cultivate gratitude habits individually or within private circles. The iOS app targets mindfulness seekers and relationship-focused users seeking structured reflection tools.

Detailed Review

Gratitude Plus by Redwheel Apps positions itself as a comprehensive gratitude practice tool merging psychological research with social connectivity. The application distinguishes itself in the mindfulness category by integrating private journaling with shared gratitude circles, creating a hybrid personal-development and social platform. The core functionality revolves around two primary modes: private gratitude entries and shared Gratitude Circles. Users can maintain individual journals with multimedia support (photos, text entries) while simultaneously participating in group gratitude sharing with selected contacts. The 'memories' feature resurfaces past entries, reinforcing positive patterns through retrospective reflection. Scientific underpinnings appear through structured prompts and consistency tracking, though specific research citations within the app remain undisclosed. User experience demonstrates thoughtful design with intuitive navigation separating personal and communal features. The interface employs calming color palettes and minimalistic input fields reducing cognitive load during daily entries. Real-world usage patterns suggest evening engagement peaks, with push notifications serving as behavioral triggers for consistency. Performance remains stable during testing, though offline functionality limitations exist for social features requiring real-time synchronization. User feedback consistently highlights two value propositions: habit formation support and social connectivity. Mssuzieq77 (July 7, 2025) noted the importance of 'reminder to take a moment to be grateful,' while ihaveplentyalready (same date) emphasized connectivity benefits for friends maintaining thankful mindsets. Multiple reviews (AJCall1234, Doodlecat222) corroborate the app's effectiveness in daily reflection routines and positive social reinforcement. The application excels in merging individual mindfulness with interpersonal engagement, though relies heavily on network effects for full feature utilization. Limitations include iOS exclusivity and social feature dependency on participant adoption. Ideal for users seeking structured gratitude practice within existing social circles, with diminished utility for purely solitary users compared to basic journaling alternatives.

I got this app because some days are hard and some days aren’t. But this app makes me reflect and find goodness on the bad days. It could be as simple as a meal or sunset or etc. But forces you to find goodness and it’s a healthy mindset. Great opportunity to grow I got this app because some days are hard and some days aren’t.
