Look, I need to know what's going on in Denver, not just national headlines. Google News usually gets the job done. It's supposed to have a local news...
6-11-25 Google News App Update took place. Today 6-12-25 "HEADLINES" has disappeared on the App. I went over my settings etc. Didn't correct the problem. Others have experienced it also as shown on GOOGLE COMMUNITY WEBSITE. What's up Google? This is an update 11:34 pm 6-12-25. Looking several minutes ago, I see "Headlines" and other options are shown across the top of the website page not at the bottom as it was previously. I have been using Google News for a very long time. It is my go to. One of the reasons I choose to use it is the settings option to restrict content in my personal feed. There are words and phrases and pictures that I find traumatic and triggering. Especially when they come out of the blue, in the middle of reading or watching sources I trust. So, having some control over choosing content is very important to me. I am challenged when these types of content slip through. Sometimes directly in the title of the article; sometimes in the photo associated with the article title. I sincerely wish this was not so. Though, my therapist gets an income boost when it happens!! Such a great app. Except for one thing. Need for smarter content screening I have been using Google News for a very long time. It is my go to. There was one reason I used Google News over other news app and that was the organization of main topic. Next to “For You” was a button that had news sources neatly arranged by subtopics; Top News, World, Business, Technology, etc. You now have to go to Following and add those topics to follow similar to how Apple News does Favorites. The problem is that it is messy. There’s no real discernible order to this page. More importantly, if I wanted that type of setup I would’ve continued o use Apple News. Hopefully this change can be reverted. But hey, I might be in the minority here and forced to find a different news app to use as my go-to.
