This app translates the popular 'That’s Not My Neighbor' PC game experience into a portable card-based format. Designed for quick sessions, it tasks players with using a lie detector to identify impostors posing as neighbors. While praised for its addicting core loop and faithful adaptation, its free-to-play model relies heavily on rewarded video ads.

Detailed Review

Creepy Neighbor: Lie Detector by Denis Batishchev carves out a niche in the mobile card game space by adapting a popular desktop game concept for on-the-go play. Positioned as a spiritual successor to 'That’s Not My Neighbor,' the app distills the core premise of identifying suspicious characters into a streamlined, portrait-mode experience. Its high rating suggests it has successfully captured the attention of its target audience, despite the limitations inherent in a free, ad-supported model. The app's primary function revolves around a lie detector mechanic. Players are presented with a series of visitor cards, each containing a character portrait and a statement. The goal is to tap a green button to activate the lie detector and determine if the visitor is telling the truth or is an imposter who should be denied entry. This simple yes/no decision forms the addictive core of the gameplay. The presentation includes varied character art and a straightforward interface that keeps the focus on rapid deduction, making it suitable for short bursts of play during commutes or waits. In practical use, the app serves as a competent time-killer. The challenge escalates as players progress, requiring quicker decisions and sharper observation of character details and statement inconsistencies. However, the user experience is punctuated by the game's monetization strategy. Key actions, such as using the lie detector or reviewing missed clues, are gated behind watching rewarded video advertisements. This design choice directly impacts the flow of the game, as noted in several user reviews where ads interrupt score review or feel mandatory for continued play. There is currently no option to make a one-time purchase to remove advertisements, a point of frequent feedback. Examining user feedback reveals a consistent pattern of high enjoyment tempered by frustration with ad frequency. Reviews repeatedly highlight the game's addictiveness, accurate adaptation of the source material, and satisfying core loop. Specific critiques point to technical quirks, such as a noted issue where tapping to answer a phone call in-game sometimes sends it directly to voicemail, and confusion over needing to press the green button twice to prevent unwanted visitors. The most common request across otherwise glowing reviews is for a premium, ad-free purchase option, indicating that while the ads are tolerated, they are the primary barrier to a seamless experience. Overall, Creepy Neighbor: Lie Detector delivers a compelling and faithful mobile version of a popular concept. Its strengths lie in its simple, engaging gameplay and successful translation of a desktop game to a mobile format. The significant limitation is its reliance on an ad model that many users find intrusive, which periodically disrupts the game's pace. For players seeking a free, casual deduction game and who don't mind intermittent ad breaks, it represents a solid choice. Those hoping for an uninterrupted experience may find the current implementation lacking a key feature.

Key Features

  • Lie Detector Gameplay: Tap a button to analyze visitor statements, deciding swiftly whether to grant entry or deny impostors to progress through levels.
  • Portrait-Mode Adaptation: Optimized for one-handed play with a vertical card-based interface, making it ideal for short sessions on commutes or breaks.
  • Varied Character Roster: Features a range of distinct visitor designs and statements, increasing the challenge and requiring careful observation from players.
  • Rewarded Ad Integration: Key actions, like using the detector or reviewing mistakes, are unlocked by viewing video ads, supporting the free-to-play model.
  • Progressive Difficulty: The game escalates in challenge, demanding faster and more accurate decisions to identify increasingly clever impostors.
  • Score Tracking: Tracks performance per round, though some users report ads occasionally obscuring the immediate post-game score display.

I thought it was amazing. I love the game that’s not my neighbor, but it’s not on mobile. So, I tried this! It’s just like it and I love it! The only problem is that you have to watch adds to use the lie detector. But otherwise it is the best! I do recommend it! Amazing I thought it was amazing. Very great . just when I try to answer the phone it goes to the voicemail and it’s really weird. Really good game. I really like, but it’s kind of a challenge. I also like that you get the opportunity to see if they’re actually lying 🤥 it is nice 👍. not boring and a good time killer . but after you click the green button, you have to click the green button again because if you don’t, you’ll get a bunch of other people in. So download it. since you’re here. Fire 🔥 Very great . just when I try to answer the phone it goes to the voicemail and it’s really weird. Really good game.
