I have learned so much of my familyâs history! I highly recommend Ancestry to everyone I meet! So satisfying! I have learned so much of my familyâs history! I highly recommend Ancestry to everyone I meet!
For years there was a tale about five brothers that came under British General Cornwallis in the American Revolutionary War, but I just couldnât verify this information l. I got the first name and looked at several lines of my surname. I discovered the story of Sir Thomas Lunsford, that was a guard of King Charles I, which lost his head for real during the Cornell revolution in England. I found he left immediately after the Kingâs execution. He sailed with 70 people to an area west of Williamsburg, Virginia. He had one young boy with him that was a bastard son as best we can find. This boy was his son that had his last name but couldnât hold a title of Sir like his biological father. William carried our name into North Carolina. This was in 1648 when he came with his true dad Sir Thomas Lunsford. Finding our own roots!
