Ambra Health's iOS application provides secure medical image viewing and sharing capabilities for healthcare professionals and patients. The platform enables remote access to radiology studies with diagnostic-grade viewing tools while facilitating collaboration between care teams.

Detailed Review

Ambra Health's iOS application serves as a mobile extension of the company's enterprise medical image management platform, offering healthcare providers and patients remote access to medical imaging studies. The app positions itself in the growing telemedicine market by addressing the need for portable medical image review capabilities, though it explicitly states it is not intended for diagnostic purposes. The application's core functionality centers on DICOM image viewing with professional-grade tools including multi-planar reconstruction, zoom, pan, and window/level adjustments. Users can scroll through entire imaging series, view associated radiology reports, and utilize measurement tools. The sharing functionality allows secure transmission of studies to other healthcare providers or patients through encrypted channels, maintaining HIPAA compliance throughout the process. All data remains stored on secure cloud servers rather than locally on devices. User experience reflects a clinical-grade interface with intuitive gesture controls for image manipulation. The login process requires integration with existing healthcare systems, typically through EHR portals like MyChart, creating a secure authentication workflow. Real-world usage patterns show healthcare professionals accessing studies during consultations or while on-call, while patients primarily use the app for reviewing their own imaging results and sharing them with second-opinion providers. User feedback indicates satisfaction with basic functionality, though the 1.7-star rating suggests significant usability issues not reflected in written reviews. User 'Not a pig' (November 30, 2023) reported successful access to both MRI images and radiology reports, stating 'It showed my results and the radiologist report.' Another user, 'asrhjmnbvc' (June 25, 2024), detailed the somewhat complex onboarding process requiring coordination with healthcare providers' records departments for initial access setup. The application demonstrates strength in providing professional-grade image viewing tools on mobile devices and maintaining rigorous security standards. However, the low overall rating suggests potential issues with reliability, user onboarding complexity, or technical performance that aren't detailed in available reviews. The app serves most effectively as a supplementary tool for healthcare providers needing remote study access or patients requiring portable medical records, rather than as a primary diagnostic workstation.

As a patient, you can gain access to this program, but you need help from your participating health care program. Basically, you just need to have their records department share an old Ambra image with your email address. Then, sign in to your account by going through your health service (MyChart, for instance) then Test Results, get an automatic sign in link to view your imaging. Once you’re there, select all your imaging, and share them to your email address. Now that you have an Ambra account, and all your records are available through your Ambra account, all of your records will be available through this app. Note: After each new imaging, you’ll need to access Ambra through your health service account, through the Ambra portal, and then it’ll also be available. I’ve had to figure this all out through being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, getting stable imaging results, and learning as much as I can. MRIs are paramount to the status of multiple sclerosis patients, and this app has earned 5-stars for me!!
