ANDROIDMaps & Navigation
Trailforks serves as a comprehensive navigation and planning tool for off-road cyclists. The app provides detailed trail maps, condition reports, and route planning specifically designed for mountain bikers and gravel riders exploring unfamiliar terrain.

Detailed Review

Trailforks establishes itself as a specialized navigation platform targeting the off-road cycling community, distinguishing itself from general-purpose mapping applications through its extensive database of mountain biking trails and cycling-specific features. The application occupies a unique position in the market by combining crowd-sourced trail data with professional-grade mapping tools specifically designed for backcountry navigation. The core functionality centers around its extensive trail database, which includes detailed information on trail difficulty ratings, elevation profiles, and current conditions updated by local riding communities. The route planning feature allows users to create custom rides with turn-by-turn navigation, while the GPS tracking capability records ride metrics including distance, elevation gain, and speed. The offline maps feature proves particularly valuable for riders exploring areas with limited cellular coverage, ensuring continuous navigation capability in remote locations. User experience demonstrates thoughtful design for outdoor usage, with large, readable interface elements optimized for visibility in various lighting conditions. The map interface provides multiple layer options including satellite imagery, topographic maps, and trail-specific overlays showing difficulty ratings and permitted uses. Real-world usage patterns indicate strongest utility during trip planning phases and while navigating unfamiliar trail networks, with many users reporting successful navigation in areas where other mapping applications provide insufficient detail for off-road cycling. User feedback trends show consistent praise for the application's comprehensive trail database and reliable navigation capabilities. Multiple reviews from June 2025, including those from Michael Andrew Wallace II, acknowledge the application's strong feature set while expressing concerns about subscription pricing compared to competing applications. A July 2025 review from Chad Dykman highlights successful usage during provincial travel, specifically noting discovery of new trails and mountains through the application's assistance. The application demonstrates clear strengths in specialized trail data and reliable offline navigation, though the subscription model presents a consideration point for budget-conscious users. Ideal use cases include mountain bikers exploring new regions, gravel riders seeking unpaved route options, and cycling enthusiasts requiring detailed trail information beyond what general navigation applications provide. The platform serves most effectively as a dedicated tool for serious off-road cyclists rather than casual recreational users.

I really like this app, honestly it has a huge amount of potential still, but it's already an amazing app, I think the price is way to high for subscription, when you talk about the competition, most of them, like the really good ones are actually mainly free so hopefully you do take that deeply into consideration in the near future, other than, I love it!
