Snapseed delivers professional-grade photo editing tools for Android users. This free app supports RAW files and offers precise control through 29 tools, making it ideal for mobile photographers seeking desktop-level editing capabilities.

Detailed Review

Snapseed represents Google's comprehensive approach to mobile photo editing, offering professional-grade tools typically found in desktop software. The application stands out in the crowded mobile editing market by providing RAW file support and non-destructive editing workflows, positioning itself as a serious tool for photography enthusiasts rather than casual filter app. The core functionality centers around 29 distinct tools and filters, including advanced features like Healing brush for object removal, Structure for enhancing texture details, HDR Scape for dynamic range expansion, and Perspective correction for architectural photography. The selective adjustment brush enables localized edits with precision control, while the ability to save and reapply custom presets streamlines workflow for consistent editing across multiple images. RAW file support remains particularly noteworthy, allowing photographers to process DNG files with full control over exposure, white balance, and color grading. User experience demonstrates thoughtful design with intuitive gesture-based controls and a clean interface that prioritizes functionality over visual clutter. The non-destructive editing approach allows users to revisit and modify any adjustment at any time, providing flexibility uncommon in mobile editing applications. Real-world usage patterns show photographers typically employing Snapseed for final polishing after basic edits, with particular emphasis on selective adjustments and detail enhancement. User feedback consistently praises the application's professional capabilities while noting specific limitations. Reviews from June-July 2025 highlight both satisfaction and feature requests: VisualEntity (2025-06-30) notes it remains 'the best RAW editing software' across multiple device generations, while yavor minchev (2025-07-04) observes minor discrepancies between preview and final output alongside artifact issues in shadow adjustments. Multiple users including Gopika Unnikrishnan (2025-06-22) appreciate the balance between simplicity and advanced functionality. The application demonstrates significant strengths in professional feature set and RAW processing capabilities, though some users report minor rendering inconsistencies and desire additional color control options. Ideal use cases include mobile photographers requiring advanced editing without subscription fees, hobbyists transitioning from basic filters to professional tools, and anyone needing precise selective adjustments on Android devices.

Mike, Moto g13 running Android 14 01/06/25 Wow, this is really good. Google photos doesn't support flipping an image left to right, this does. It does photo editing, just enough for what I want and need. We'll done Google, now add it in to Google photos and have one seriously great photo app.

Snapseed has been my editing companion for years! It’s one of the best photo editing apps out there—simple, powerful, and completely free. From basic adjustments to advanced tools like selective editing and healing, it never fails to enhance my photos just the way I want. Truly a must-have for anyone who loves clean and professional edits!

The preview of the picture in the app before it is saved is slightly different from the actual saved picture! The shadows/highlights adjustment algorithm is pretty bad, since artefacts become present at 20+ % adjustment. It would be great if there was a sharpening radius feature. There is some pretty visible posterizing when using the selective tool too. Otherwise great.

Still the best RAW editing software. I've been using it since 2018 on three phones: from my LG V10 to the Samsung Note 9, and now the Samsung S25+. Please bring Snapseed 3.0 to Android!

this is amazing. after all this AI hype with adobe, paywall, and signins, I stopped using Lightroom and Photoshop on android for on the go. I needed a simple, local, photo editor that has some presets, but allows me the full imaging like curves, highlights, image histogram, etc. If you have done any serious work with editing photos, you will feel right at home. it's a no nonsense UI. It lacks description if you never used tools like this. but if you have the Ui does not get in ur way.
