Detailed Review

SkyView® Lite by Terminal Eleven LLC represents a significant entry in the mobile astronomy application market, offering robust celestial identification capabilities without subscription fees. The application leverages smartphone cameras and sensor arrays to overlay astronomical data onto real-time sky views, creating an augmented reality experience that makes celestial navigation accessible to users regardless of astronomical knowledge. The core functionality centers on precise object identification across multiple celestial categories. Users can locate planets within our solar system, identify constellations that fade into view during scanning, discover distant galaxies beyond visible spectrum detection, and track satellite movements in real-time. The application provides detailed informational cards for each celestial body, including orbital data, physical characteristics, and observational history. Daytime mode allows for theoretical positioning of celestial objects despite sunlight interference, while night mode enhances visibility through adjustable interface contrast. User experience demonstrates thoughtful design with intuitive gesture-based navigation—panning the device automatically triggers celestial overlays while tapping objects reveals expanded information. The interface maintains minimalistic aesthetics with customizable settings for audio feedback, including optional ambient background music noted by users. Real-world usage patterns show particular effectiveness for educational contexts, outdoor activities, and astronomical event planning, though performance varies based on device sensor accuracy and ambient light conditions. User feedback trends consistently highlight appreciation for the free access model and comprehensive feature set. Bianca Wanders (May 20, 2025) praised the 'vast information on any planet' and 'zenlike background music,' while Russ Davies (July 1, 2025) noted satisfaction with feature completeness despite experiencing camera permission issues. These reviews reflect broader sentiment valuing the application's depth despite occasional technical limitations on certain Android configurations. The application demonstrates notable strengths in accessibility and educational value, though limitations emerge in rural areas with limited connectivity requirements for certain features. Accuracy occasionally suffers from magnetic interference and requires occasional recalibration. Ideal use cases include introductory astronomy education, casual stargazing, and supplemental tool for amateur astronomers seeking quick celestial references without professional equipment investment.

this app is really awesome as it is very easily tells which celestial body you are seeing, also you can get to know about that planet / star's distance, constellation, etc... information very well.

Really good , I've tried a few others but i settled for this one because it ticked all of the boxes for me. I couldn't get the camera to work even though I had allowed all of the permissions needed. Thank you for keeping it free 👍
