Nanit is an advanced baby monitoring application leveraging computer vision to track infant sleep patterns and behaviors. The Android app provides detailed analytics and real-time monitoring for parents seeking data-driven childcare solutions.

Detailed Review

Nanit represents a sophisticated approach to infant monitoring through its Android application, positioning itself as a premium smart nursery solution. The platform utilizes computer vision technology to analyze baby movements, sleep patterns, and environmental conditions, translating raw data into actionable insights for parents. The core functionality centers around continuous sleep tracking, movement analysis, and environmental monitoring. The system differentiates between fussing, awake states, and deep sleep patterns while monitoring room temperature and humidity levels. A standout feature is the morning briefing system that provides consolidated overnight reports, including sleep duration graphs, disturbance timelines, and room condition summaries. The platform requires pairing with Nanit's proprietary hardware for full functionality. User experience varies significantly across devices, with interface consistency being a noted concern. The Android version demonstrates occasional performance inconsistencies compared to iOS counterparts, particularly regarding video history timestamps and connectivity stability. Real-world usage patterns show most users accessing the app for overnight monitoring checks, historical trend analysis, and receiving push notifications for infant awakenings or environmental changes. User feedback reveals polarized experiences, with technical issues affecting some Android users while others report excellent performance. Derek Donahue (April 28, 2025) reported persistent timestamp readability issues on Android despite troubleshooting, while Mike McDonald (July 30, 2025) noted significant improvements after two years of updates. Positive reviews highlight the high-resolution video quality and detailed analytics, as evidenced by Erica Aldaz's (May 31, 2025) praise for audio clarity and visual detail. The application demonstrates clear strengths in data analytics and sleep pattern recognition but faces challenges with cross-platform consistency and occasional stability issues. Ideal for parents seeking detailed sleep analytics and those willing to invest in the ecosystem, though potential users should anticipate possible Android-specific optimization issues and ensure stable network conditions for optimal performance.

Nanit by far has been the best baby camera system we have had for any of our 3 children. The resolution allows us to see great detail from a safe distance. the mic allows us to even hear the slightest sniffle. We got this camera when our daughter was already 16 months old so we didn't get to take advantage of it's other cool features like the breathing bands and growth charting. Overall the app is super easy to use and the camera and setup are a great asset to our baby toolbox.

The nanit app often fails to load the video, has a big delay and randomly chooses a different light setting. Would not recommend. --March 2023. Update June 2025: Nanit has done a lot of work to improve and after many updates over the last two years the app and our first camera work great! We even bought a 2nd and 3rd camera for our next baby and grandparents house for naps in their care. The 2 camera split-view is great but PLEASE add support for landscape mode for phones/tables on mounts

updated from previous view as last issue was fixed. no issues with the app and obviously use it daily. really like the ability to use as a sound monitor when needed.
