MyFitnessPal provides comprehensive nutrition tracking with extensive food database, macro monitoring, and fitness integration. The app serves health-conscious users seeking data-driven dietary management and weight goal tracking through detailed calorie counting.

Detailed Review

MyFitnessPal stands as one of the most established nutrition tracking applications in the mobile health market, offering users a comprehensive platform for monitoring dietary intake, exercise output, and progress toward health objectives. The application functions as an all-in-one digital nutrition coach, combining food diary capabilities with fitness tracking to provide holistic health management. The core functionality centers around its massive food database containing over 14 million items, accessible through manual search or barcode scanning. Users can track calories and macronutrients while monitoring micronutrient intake against personalized daily goals. The platform integrates with numerous fitness devices and applications, automatically adjusting calorie budgets based on activity levels. Premium subscribers gain access to advanced features including macro breakdowns by meal, food analysis timelines, and ad-free experience. User experience demonstrates thoughtful design with intuitive logging workflows and clear data visualization. The interface presents daily progress through color-coded nutrient circles that quickly communicate goal achievement status. Real-world usage patterns show most users engage primarily with quick-add features during meals while utilizing the barcode scanner for packaged foods. The application maintains synchronization across multiple devices, enabling seamless transition between mobile and desktop tracking. User feedback indicates generally positive experiences with recent updates addressing previous technical issues. Gina Henry (August 2, 2025) noted resolution of previous problems, stating the app now functions as expected. Mark Young (July 4, 2025) praised the responsive support team and seamless background synchronization. However, Colton Harrington (July 5, 2025) reported subscription management concerns after canceling a premium trial, highlighting potential billing transparency issues that some users encounter. The application demonstrates significant strengths in database comprehensiveness and integration capabilities but faces limitations in international food coverage and occasional technical glitches. Ideal for users committed to detailed nutritional tracking who primarily consume foods from well-established databases. The free version provides substantial functionality, while premium features cater to advanced users requiring detailed macro analysis and customized reporting.

UPDATE: MFP has corrected the issue and its now working as it was before. I'm super happy and impressed with how quickly the issues were resolved. Ty MFP :) I've been using the app for quite sometime (2019) and thought it was just what I needed to help me on my way. I went and upgraded to premium. As of July I have been unable to log through the DIARY. As of today the only thing the app does is swirl and swirl (you know what I mean). Yes I've uninstalled and reinstalled (๐Ÿ™„).

Updated from 1* to 5*: Had a problem with continual login requests but support quickly responded and gave me a work around. I'm now very happy with the app. Quick and easy to log food. Variety of views of macros available. Easy to tweak targets. Synchronises seamlessly in the background.

I'm really enjoying learning to use the MyFitnessPal app. It does the hard work for me. The only thing they could improve, would to be make it a little more simplistic. The main screen is a little too busy. It took a minute to figure out how to add to my previous day. Although, this app has a lot of good options. I would definitely recommend it!
