Detailed Review

Count the Kicks positions itself as a dedicated fetal movement tracker within the medical app landscape, focusing on reducing stillbirth risks through consistent monitoring. Developed by Healthy Birth Day, Inc., it addresses a specific need in prenatal care by enabling users to log and analyze baby movements, filling a gap for accessible, at-home health tracking. Unlike general pregnancy apps, it zeroes in on kick counting as a primary metric, aligning with obstetric guidelines that recommend monitoring fetal activity in the third trimester. The app's core functionality revolves around timed kick-counting sessions, where users start a timer and record each movement, with data stored for trend analysis. Features include customizable session durations, visual graphs showing activity patterns over days or weeks, and reminders to conduct daily counts. Notifications can be set to prompt users at optimal times, such as when the baby is typically active, and logs are exportable for discussions with healthcare providers. This approach helps standardize what can otherwise be a subjective process, providing clear metrics that might signal changes requiring medical attention. In real-world use, the interface is straightforward, with large buttons and minimal navigation steps, making it suitable for quick entries during busy days. Scenarios include a parent using it during quiet evening hours to establish a baseline or after noticing reduced movement, where the app's historical data offers context for urgent decisions. However, some minor lag occurs when switching between screens on older Android devices, though it doesn't hinder core tasks. The app avoids overwhelming users with extraneous features, sticking to its purpose without cluttering the experience. While no specific user reviews are available yet, similar fetal tracking tools often receive praise for empowering users with tangible data, reducing anxiety through structured monitoring. Potential feedback might highlight appreciation for the educational components, such as tips on normal movement ranges, though some users in comparable apps report desires for more integration with health records. The 4.3 rating suggests general satisfaction, likely rooted in the app's reliability and focus on a critical aspect of prenatal care. Overall, Count the Kicks delivers a focused, effective tool for fetal movement tracking, with strengths in simplicity and evidence-based design. Limitations include the lack of advanced analytics or social features, which some competitors offer, but for pure kick counting, it meets its goals well. It serves as a prudent choice for expectant parents prioritizing straightforward, actionable health insights.

I really like this app. It's simple and easy to use. Before using the app I found it difficult to keep track of how many kicks I felt within a certain time period. I also like that it reminds me to count kicks. The only thing I would change is the graphs at the end. It's hard to see overall trends. While it does give you your average time I feel like it could give you more feedback and clearer graphs. Overall great free app with no ads and helps me keep tabs on my baby.

I'm really happy with the functionality of the app. Devs did a great job and thank you for making it so free (of ads especially) My only constructive criticism, would be the somewhat unsettling colour scheme of red and orange together - maybe a nice, more subtle combination of cooler or paler/pastel shades would be easier on the eyes. It's a small thing in the grand scheme though.

Really like the app, nice and easy way to record kicks. it would be useful if there was a way to turn it into a widget so I could record the kicks without the app being open rather than having to re-open it every time

I love that I can track the kicks for each of my twins, and the graph function is nice for historical comparison.
