Detailed Review

Cronometer positions itself as a premium nutrition tracking application that extends beyond conventional calorie counting by incorporating scientific verification and comprehensive micronutrient analysis. The Android application distinguishes itself through laboratory-tested food data and extensive nutritional profiling, catering to users who require precise dietary monitoring for specific health goals or medical conditions. The application's core functionality revolves around its verified database of 1.1 million foods, which undergoes laboratory testing to ensure nutritional accuracy. Users can track not only calories and macronutrients but also 84 specific micronutrients, providing unprecedented depth for nutritional analysis. The platform incorporates trend-tracking tools and visualization features that allow users to monitor nutritional patterns over time, supported by scientifically-validated metrics and personalized recommendations based on individual health objectives. User experience demonstrates a clean, data-focused interface that prioritizes functionality over aesthetic flourishes. The navigation system organizes complex nutritional information into intuitive sections, though some users report technical issues with full-screen advertisements that occasionally disrupt the workflow. Real-world usage patterns indicate strongest adoption among fitness enthusiasts, medical patients requiring specific dietary monitoring, and nutrition professionals seeking detailed client data analysis. User feedback trends reveal consistent appreciation for the application's nutritional depth, with Amanda Townsend (June 27, 2025) noting how micronutrient tracking encourages 'eating better, not just eating fewer calories.' However, Joe DiSalvo (July 9, 2025) highlights interface issues with advertisement implementation that sometimes force app restarts. Multiple reviewers including Chris Oestrich (July 2, 2025) praise the comprehensive nutritional reporting and trend analysis capabilities that surpass competing applications. The application demonstrates particular strength in scientific accuracy and nutritional comprehensiveness, though occasional technical issues with advertisements and interface elements present usability challenges. Cronometer proves most valuable for users requiring detailed micronutrient tracking, verified food data, and long-term nutritional trend analysis, particularly those with specific health conditions, athletic performance goals, or professional nutritional monitoring requirements.

This is my favorite calorie counter. It let's you see both calories and nutritional information. Seeing nutritional information is especially helpful because it lets you work towards eating better, not just eating fewer calories. I find myself trying to eat food that fills up my vitamin totals for the day, but still keeps my calorie count low. You can also save your own recipes which keeps you from having to re-enter information later. It's great!

Was great. Still good, but have really ramped up the full page ad pop ups recently. They often don't fit my phone's screen making it impossible to see the X to close the ad, meaning I have to completely close the app, meaning if I was in the middle of doing something when the ad popped up, I have to start all over again. Update: Thanks for your response, but it's not fixed. Update 2: seems to be fixed now.

I've been using the app for a couple of weeks now and it really holds up well versus other calorie counting/nutrition apps I've tried. The interface is clean and easy to use. The level of information on nutritional values is excellent and very broad. The MI tools and graphs to track various trends are easy to read and you can configure a dashboard really easily. The scanning function for barcodes works well. Only gripe, often no metric measures.

I really love this app. My gym has its own macro tracker. I've used other free aps and they just don't stack up. Chronometer has alot to offer even with the free version. The foods available in the database include lots of restaurants. That makes it super convenient when you're on the go. The ability to add foods by taking an in app photo of the label and nutritional facts panel, is more in depth than other apps I've used. Even with a random deli food.
