ANDROIDParenting
This app transforms Android devices into a functional baby monitoring system using existing hardware. Designed to help parents keep an eye on sleeping infants without additional equipment purchases. The setup creates a video and audio monitoring solution between two Android devices on the same network.

Detailed Review

BabyCam by ArjonaSoftware enters the crowded parenting app space with a straightforward approach: utilizing Android devices as baby monitors rather than requiring dedicated hardware. The app establishes a connection between two devices on the same Wi-Fi network, with one serving as the camera and the other as the viewer. This method eliminates the need for separate monitoring equipment while providing core functionality parents expect from traditional baby monitors. The core feature set includes live video streaming, audio monitoring, and night vision capability when using devices with adequate camera sensors. The app maintains a persistent connection between devices, allowing parents to monitor their child from another room while performing household tasks. Motion detection alerts provide notifications when significant movement occurs in the monitored area, though the sensitivity requires careful calibration to avoid false alarms. Audio transmission includes optional noise activation to conserve bandwidth during quiet periods. Real-world usage reveals both practical applications and limitations. Parents report successful monitoring during nap times and overnight sleep, particularly in apartments or smaller homes where Wi-Fi coverage remains consistent. The night vision functionality depends heavily on the host device's camera capabilities, with newer Android devices typically performing better in low-light conditions. Some users note that the audio occasionally experiences slight latency, though this rarely impacts the overall monitoring effectiveness for typical baby monitoring scenarios. Early user feedback indicates satisfaction with the app's reliability within its intended use parameters. Reviews frequently mention the cost-saving aspect compared to dedicated baby monitor systems, with many users appreciating the ability to repurpose older Android devices. The motion detection receives mixed feedback, with some parents finding it overly sensitive while others wish for more granular control options. The interface earns praise for its simplicity, though a few users note occasional connectivity drops that require restarting the app. BabyCam delivers solid performance for parents seeking a budget-friendly monitoring solution using existing Android hardware. The app performs reliably within standard home Wi-Fi environments and provides adequate video and audio quality for most monitoring needs. While it lacks some advanced features found in premium dedicated monitors, the core functionality meets basic requirements effectively. The occasional connectivity issues and dependency on device hardware quality represent trade-offs for the significant cost savings.

This is hands down the best baby monitor app available. I'm not sure who is reading this, but it is likely exactly what you're looking for! Via he redundant connection options and many features, it's clear the developers were thinking very deeply about the end user. I have only used the free version so far, I plan to upgrade soon. It is absolutely impeccable.

Absolutely perfect. One of the very very few apps I chose to pay for, and it doesn't even force your hand to buy it in any way. It's perfectly usable as a free tier app, and has great functionality. We run it off an very old and practically unusable phone, and it runs perfectly.

This app is definetly what you are looking for, I run it using old xiaomi phone that's not usable for anything else, battery usage is surprisingly low as well. For a while I used free version but after a while I decided that developer has earned my money even though it wasn't forced. Would be nice to make changes in all so the baby phone is turned on all of the time. Sometimes I forget to turn on my baby's phone, I have to go back into her room and risk waking her up.

Fantastic. I see a lot of people complaining about ads... Preimum is $3. A video baby monitor is $60. Don't be cheap, the app works extremely well, I just grabbed one of my old phones, threw it in a cheap tripod over his crib and plugged it into the wall. He was 4 weeks early so I just have the tablet on my bedside with a Bluetooth speaker hooked up to make it louder. Me and his momma couldn't be happier with the app.
